Cambodia Gambling Halls
Thursday, 22. October 2026
There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which casino wagering is banned. Eight casinos are based in a generally small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime area, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a few controls constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; although, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 1700, and despite the fact visas are for all intents and purposes required to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is true of most borders.
The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship gambling hall, highlights 150 one armed bandits and 60 table games. The Naga gambling hall is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive vacation and hotel building that highlights numerous luxuries aside from the casino, which contains ten thousand square feet of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
