Cambodia Casinos

There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where gambling den gaming is not allowed. Eight casinos are established in a generally tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent spot, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal income gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few controls constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; although, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and despite the fact visas are allegedly required to cross, there are methods around this, as is real of most border crossings.
The first Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty slots and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of 150 slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred one armed bandits and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and 66 of the common table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel building that features a number of conveniences accompanying the casino, which contains 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
