There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which gambling hall betting is not allowed. Eight casinos are based in a relatively tiny space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect spot, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular betting locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital acquired from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a few restrictions requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; although, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are apparently necessary to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of most borders.
The original Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked bateau gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty slots and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are one hundred and fifty slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machine games and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the common table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around vacation and hotel building that features numerous comforts on top of the gambling den, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight gaming tables.
