Cambodia Gambling Dens
Saturday, 2. November 2019
There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall gaming is illegal. Eight gambling halls are based in a generally small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in a prime location, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal income acquired from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few controls constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; however, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 17:00, and even though visas are allegedly needed to cross, there are ways around this, as is real of most borders.
The original Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling den, highlights 150 one armed bandits and sixty gaming tables. The Naga casino never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machine games and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the common tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight casinos in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel compound that features a number of conveniences on top of the gambling den, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 one armed bandits and 88 tables.
